Honouring the lone sea wolf, Staqeya, that lived on Oak Bay’s coastal islands, a statue will be erected at Cattle Point. Staqeya’s arrival came soon after the passing of Songhees Chief Robert Sam, offering strength and comfort to Songhees people according to his son Chief Ron Sam, making the statue a nod to the late chief’s legacy as well.
