Happy Tuesday, friends. Welcome to the first edition of TWIV, the newsletter equivalent of your neighbourhood coffee shop bulletin board.

Here, you’ll see a list of events happening around town this week and weekend, and other things happening we’ve got our eyes on.

🎸 Glorious Sons at Save-on-Foods Arena: The Juno-award winning band announced this month that they will return to Victoria to showcase music from their latest album, Nov 9.

💃 Viva! Victoria Latin Fest: The 4th annual festival hits Centennial Square, Aug 5-6.

🎵 Reverb at Phillip’s Backyard: The second installment of Phillip’s Backyard Weekender will see Fleet Foxes and Peach Pit take the stage at the outdoor fest, Aug 11-13.

🍷 Victoria International Wine Festival: The annual festival returns this September 24-30 with dinners, seminars, and the grand tasting event.

Saturday | 1-8pm | Lagoon Beach

Grab some local food and drink, shop different vendors and catch a stacked lineup featuring The Zolas, Nautical Disaster, The Projectors and more. [Free]

Thursday | 8pm | Capital Ballroom

The Australian singer will take the stage to perform music off his latest album, with fellow Aussie guest Kim Churchill. [$35]

The mezzo soprano will perform with the Emily Carr String Quartet at the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall. [$40]

Candlelight Victoria | Wednesday | 7:45pm & 9:30pm

Enjoy Vilvadi’s “Four Seasons” in an intimate candlelit setting at Fort Common. [$50]

Bastion Square Market | Thu-Sat | 11am

The public market runs every Thursday to Saturday offering a mix of handmade products, entertainment, baked goods, and more. [Free]

The Soul Shakers, one of the Island’s top dance bands, will have you singing and dancing to classic soul, Motown, and R&B. [Free]

Brenda Morie Quartet | Thursday | 7pm - 9pm

Catch music from Brenda Morie’s newest album at Hermann’s, along with jazz and blues classics. [$20]

VS at Christ Church Cathedral | Thursday | 7:30pm

Critically acclaimed Canadian pianist Lorraine Min plays Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. [$47.50]

Catch these award-nominated dance rockers at Hermann’s Upstairs with the local “island rock” band. [$25]

Catch the straight-ahead jazz ensemble that plays original compositions written by each member of the band. [$20]

Get Back at Butchart | Friday | 8pm

Enjoy the live performance at the open-air stage with a collection of top Vancouver musicians paying tribute to the catalogue of later Beatles songs. [Admission to The Gardens required]

Latin Night with DJ Wale | Friday | 10pm

Dance the night away with Latin music and drinks at the Victoria Event Centre. [$15]

Celebrate local Indigenous performers at Hampton Park with a variety of genres, including folk, rock, country, and hip hop. [Free]

After spending a few games on the road, the HarbourCats are home to host the Falcons. Catch fireworks after the game on Saturday, and Sunday’s matinee. [$15+]

Vancouver Island’s longest-running juried fine art show is back with a variety of events over its 10-day run. [$15]

Moss Street Market | Saturdays | 10am-2pm

Discover local vendors, get farm-fresh produce and listen to live music at this weekly market. [Free]

Ginuary Tasting Market | Saturday & Sunday | 1-5pm

Come explore the best craft gin distillers in BC, all in one place at this 4-hour tasting event. [$10+]

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the world-class fireworks show. [Admission to The Gardens required]

Like the title says, remove invasive species like Himalayan blackberry, English ivy, and Daphne from the beautiful Dominion Brook Park in North Saanich. [Free]

Victoria Sport and Import Car Show | Sunday | 10:30am-4pm

The 2nd annual show comes to Saanich Fairgrounds. [Free]

Flamenco Tablao | Sunday | 7pm

Get an evening of music, song, and dance with a live flamenco performance at The Mint. [$25]

Experience world class musicians, every Monday at Heron Rock Bistro. This week, see Max Mackrill playing British Rock & Blues. [Free]

Esquimalt Farmers Market | Mondays & Thurdays | 4:30-7:30pm

Load up on farm-fresh goodies at this local market, happening at Gorge Park on Mondays and Memorial Park on Thursdays. [Free]

Music by the Sea | Tuesday | 8pm

Enjoy classical and jazz music at a spectacular seaside setting at this festival running Aug 1-5 at the Victoria International Marina. [$95+]
